Whether you ask her about her music or her work with local production company, The Royal Wild, Haley Shaw is quick to point out the grit and talent of those around her first.
“My job is genius wrangling,” she explains. “It’s such an honor to work with the clients we do. Just being around them challenges me to write outside of what I know.”
And while The Royal Wild’s client list is impressive (their reel ranges from local to international companies like SEE Eyewear and BMW), Haley isn’t too shabby herself.
Approaching the ripe age of 30, the Charleston native spent a chunk of her 20s in Nashville playing the “dirty kid musician scene” where she wrote and performed her own music. But as it always does, the Lowcountry called, and three years ago, Haley found herself back in the Holy City where she cofounded Row Collective, a full-service digital branding agency. Fast-forward a few years and she joined forces with creative talents Jenny Kleiman, Kayla Morrisey, and Landon Neil Phillips, as the Content Strategist and Production Manager for The Royal Wild.
“I couldn’t have foreseen that I would have this kind of freedom and support and ability to do these things in Charleston 10 years ago,” Haley explains. “But now it’s like ‘why wouldn’t you be in Charleston doing these things?’”
As for her other projects? Haley’s excited to release her latest EP album. And while we love her songbird voice and whimsical lyrics, we can’t help but dance to her infectious attitude about digging your heels in to go after what you want in the world, unapologetically.
“Don’t let anybody put their anxiety or fear or concern ahead of your desire to do something cool and weird and different.”
Those are the kind of lyrics we can sing to.
